How To Use Burner Email Addresses.

Burner email addresses are temporary, disposable email addresses that you can create “on the spot”, use them once and then forget them.

You can use a burner email when you don’t want to use your real email address. They can keep you off email marketing (spam) lists.

Burner Emails.

A burner email is a temporary email address that’s setup automatically by whichever service you’re using.

These services don’t normally require any sort of log in or account to be set up. You simply turn up at the website and you’ll be issued with a computer generated email address. In that way they can help to protect your true identity.

These temporary email addresses work just like you’re real email address in that you can send, receive and reply to messages.

The only thing missing is any form of security. Burner email addresses can’t be considered as private. You may well be sharing the same disposable address as other people.

There are many websites that offer disposable email addresses, below I’ll show you how to use two of them.

How To Use Guerrilla Mail Disposable Emails.

To get a burner email address from Guerrilla Mail, simply click the link below to visit the website.

Your new burner email address is immediately ready to use.

There’s no need to create an account or sign in.

The easiest way to use the disposable email address is to copy it from here and then paste it into the website that’s requiring an email address from you.

Your Guerrilla Mail Inbox.

Your Burner email address has it’s own Inbox for receiving mail. It’ll work exactly the same as your regular Inbox.

Click on an email to read the message. If there’s a reply button or link, that’ll work just the same as with regular mail.

Just above the Inbox is the Compose tab which you use to create new emails.

Time To Live

When you’re using Guerrilla Mail, the actual temporary email address doesn’t expire. It stays live and can be used over and over again.

However, the email messages only stay in the Inbox for 1 hour. After that they’re deleted.

So while you re-use your temporary email address, you’ll need to be quick when checking your messages.

How To Use Email On Deck.

Email On Deck is another burner email service that works well. The main difference between Email On Deck and Guerrilla Mail is that the email address that you receive does expire. It truly is a temporary address.

I can’t give you an exact time that the address will live for, but you should get around 1 hour.

You can get a disposable email address from Email On Deck by following the link below.

https://www.emailondeck.com/

When you arrive at the website, check the “I am human” box and then click the Get Email button.

Again there’s no sign in or account needed.

Prove you’re human and then click Get Mail.

Bookmark The Page.

Right at the top of the page is your new temporary (burner) email address.

Just as with Guerrilla Mail above, the easiest way to use it is to Copy from here and then Paste it into the website you’re trying to gain access to.

When you’re using Email On Deck as your temporary email service, this is where you’d want to make a bookmark or add to favourites.

New email messages will appear in your Email On Deck inbox.

And just like with a regular email service, you simply click on a message to view it.

This Email Address Will Expire.

Email On Deck addresses do expire. They don’t give a precise time on their website for how long the address will last for. But you should get at least an hour.

Once the address has expired, it’s pretty much gone for good.

Privacy & Security With Burner Email Address Services.

Privacy and security with disposable (temporary) email services is practically non-existent.

Never ever use disposable email addresses to sign into or create accounts with websites that hold any private or personal details about you.

You should always assume that messages received into your temporary email inbox can be read by others.

Summary.

Used properly, burner email services are fine and will help to protect your identity and privacy.

Many websites and organisations collect email addresses and then sell them on to third parties. That’s how spammers and phishing sites get hold of your address.

Using a burner email address when you can avoids that from happening.
