How to add links (hyperlinks) into email using Outlook online, Outlook For Windows app and Outlook Classic that’s a part of Microsoft Office.
You can link a word, a phrase or an image to any web page on the internet. A clickable link in an email provides your recipient with a convenient way to access additional information or visit a web page directly from the message itself.
How To Add Links In Outlook Online And Outlook For Windows App.
Copy the URL (web page address) of the page that you want to link to. It’s usually easier and more accurate to copy it rather than trying to remember it.
Log in to your Outlook email account online or open the Outlook for Windows app.
Click the New Email button in the top left hand corner of the window.
Add the usual email details (address, subject and message).
Then position the cursor where you want to insert the link.
Adding The Link
To add the link you can use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + K, or right click on the message body and select Link from the toolbar menu that appears.
Either way the Insert Link box will appear.
There are two boxes. The first box is the Display Text. That’s the text that’ll appear in your email. You can enter anything that you want into this box. Click Here, for example.
The second box is the Web Address (URL) box. Paste in the web page address that you’re linking to in this box.
Click the OK button when you’re done.
Adding A Link To An Image In Outlook
You can also use an image as the link in Outlook.
Insert the image into your email. Then select the picture by left clicking on it once.
Now either press CTRL + K, or right click the picture and select the Link icon from the toolbar. Either way the Insert Link window will open.
Type in or paste in the web address of the page you’re linking to and click the OK button.
How To Add Links In Outlook Classic
Outlook Classic is the email client that normally ships with the Microsoft Office suit. Inserting links into Outlook Classic is slightly different to using Microsoft 365 or Outlook online because the user interface (UI) is very different.
Open Outlook Classic and click the New Email button in the top left corner.
Fill in the standard email details (address, subject etc).
Then position the flashing cursor where you want to inert a link.
Insert Hyperlink
Use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + K to open the Insert Hyperlink window.
In the Text To Display box you can type what you want the link to appear as in your email. For example Click Here.
In the Address box, type or paste the web address (URL) of the page you’re linking to.
Click OK when you’re done.
